Move every PDF and document in Downloads into one folder
Omaculate moves every document in Downloads (PDF, Word, Pages, RTF, text) into a Documents folder inside it.
Why it helps
For a light tidy, one rule does most of the work: documents in one place, everything else easier to see.
What it matches
- PDF, Word, Pages, RTF and plain-text documents
What it leaves alone
- Documents claimed by a recipe higher up (invoices, statements, contracts)
- Spreadsheets and presentations
A document in Downloads is moved to Downloads/Documents.
Set it up in Omaculate
- Open Omaculate from the menu bar and go to Recipes.
- Under Suggested, choose PDFs and documents. It's ready to save, on Downloads.
- Look over the files it would touch, then press Save.
- Press Tidy now, check the list, and approve it.
Change anything by tapping its words, for example: put invoices, statements and contracts above it, so they go to their own folders first.
Or by hand: group by kind
- Open Downloads, choose View › Group By › Kind.
- Drag the PDF and Document groups into a Documents folder.
Questions
What if a PDF is also an invoice?
Recipes run in list order and the first one to move a file claims it. Put Gather invoices and receipts above this one and invoices go there.
